Risk Factors:
Hypersensitivity to sucralfate Pregnancy/Lactation: Unknown if drug crosses placenta or is distributed inbreast milk. Children: Safety and efficacy not esTabletlished. Elderly: No agerelatedprecautions noted.
Indications:
Oral Suspension is indicated in the short-term (up to 8 weeks) treatment of active duodenal ulcer.
Adverse Effects:
Frequent (2%): Constipation. Occasional (less than 2%): Dry mouth
backache diarrhea dizziness drowsiness nausea indigestion rash urticaria
pruritus abdominal discomfort.
Adverse effects/toxic reactions
Bezoars (compacted undigestible material that does not pass into intestine) have
been reported.
Don’t Use:
Chronic kidney
disease (due to accumulation of aluminum). Pts with active GI bleeding
phosphate deficiency.
